Online youth softball registration Jan. 1 through 31 Washington Township Parks and Recreation will take registrations for its Youth Softball program online at www.wtprsoftball.com Jan. 1 through 31. Payment is by Visa or Mastercard only. The league is open only to Washington Township residents ages 5 through 18 with league age being established as of Jan. 1. All first time registrants and those that did not play WTPR Softball last year are required to present a birth certificate at the first practice. The registration fees are $55 for five to seven year olds; $75 for eight to ten year olds; $100 for 11-18 and $100 for Travel Teams. Late registration begins February 1 with a $10 late fee in effect. Anyone signing up after Feb 15 will be placed on a Waiting List. Those wishing to pay by check or cash can attend in person online registration at the Chestnut Ridge Middle School on Wednesdays, January 16 and 23, 2008, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., Room #120. For the safety of our children, the Township is enforcing its Ordinance #38-2007. All volunteers in contact with children shall be subject to a criminal history record background check. The registration fees are $70 for five to six year olds; $80 for seven to ten year olds; $90 for 11-12 and $110 for 13 to 18 year olds. Late registration begins February 1 with a $10.00 late fee in effect. Anyone signing up after Feb 28 will be placed on a Waiting List. Prayer Vigil Jan. 4 Young Life Gloucester County is holding a Prayer Vigil 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church. The vigil begins with a 24 hour prayer time with an hour of worship, prayer and encouragement at the church. Then people sign up to pray for one hour slots through out the night, going from prayer station to prayer station, praying for different Clubs and needs in Young Life’s ministry. Before Business Breakfast Jan 9. The Washington Township Chamber of Commerce will be holding their Before Business Breakfast 8 to 9:15 a.m., Wednesday Jan. 9. The event will be sponsored by Mark Jones Video Productions, the location will be announced at a later date. The cost is free and prospective members are welcome.

WTHS Cheerleaders of the Future Jan 12. The Washington Township High School Cheerleaders would like to invite your “Cheerleader of the Future” to participate in a one day clinic sponsored by the HS Cheerleading Booster Club, on 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan.12, 2008., Registration begins at 8:30 AM at Orchard Valley Middle School. All elementary school children in grades Kindergarten through fifth are eligible. The cost of the clinic is $25, which includes a snack at the clinic, a customized T-shirt, and the opportunity to perform at a Varsity Basketball game. Youth Free Throw Championship Jan. 13 All boys and girls ages 10-14 are invited to participate in the local level of competition for the 2008 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The local competition will be held January 13, 2008 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. at the Whitman Elementary School, 827 Whitman School Drive, Turnersville.

Camden Diocese Ski Weekend West Mountain, Queensbury, NY Feb. 8 to 10 Open to 8th to 12th Grade Youth. Trip ncludes skiing, rental, most meals, dance party, pool, and more. WyldLife Winter Camp Feb. 29 to March 2 Come join Young Life Gloucester County Feb. 29 to March 2 as they go to Young Life Lake Champion in Glen Spey, New York. It’s only 175 miles from our area.
