MEDFORD >> Lenape High School students had an outstanding performance at the National Latin Exam this year.

The National Latin Exam (NLE) is a test given annually to Latin students across the United States and around the world. The NLE is not meant to be a competition, but rather an opportunity for students to receive reinforcement and recognition for their accomplishments in the classroom.

Lenape had 162 awards, with 21 gold medals, 48 silver medals, 50 magna cum laude certificates of honor, and 42 honor merit awards. There were also two perfect scores in Latin I, achieved by freshmen Matthew Melohis and Owen McPherson.

Magistra Robynn Hecht said of her students, “This is an extremely hard working group. I am very proud that we had two perfect scores for Latin I, which is very hard to accomplish.”
