Trenton offers a backdrop for two exciting events Thursday as summer ends and the 2023-24, school year begins.

Trenton Public School District hosts its 8th Annual Back to School Extravaganza from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Trenton Board of Education parking lot at 108 N. Clinton Ave.

Families can interact and receive resources from school staff, community, and health agencies. Mobile health vans will be on-site to offer free school-mandated immunizations, eye exams, dental and other health screenings.

Students can receive free backpacks filled with school supplies, school uniforms, and much more while supplies last.

Vision & Voice, a free summer camp for children ages 10-17 based on the theme of Hip Hop wraps with a performance for friends and family in the Mill Hill Playhouse at 6 p.m.

Students enjoyed classes throughout the summer for this collaboration between the Trenton Free Library and Passage Theater. Instructors taught campers skills linked to improvisation, performance, poetry, dramatic writing, and Hip Hop dance.

The free camp included breakfasts and lunches provided before and after each camp session, provided by the Capital Area YMCA.

This final appearance allows students to showcase their talents during a summer when Hip Hop enjoys a 50-year anniversary.

It’s a free performance but reserve your spot at www.onthestage.tickets/show/passage-theater-company.
