EVESHAM >> Junior Gavin Gibson scored 18 points and senior Olarewaju Oladipo chipped in 17 (and 11 rebounds) as No. 2 seed Cherokee defeated visiting No. 4 Millville, 55-40, in the NJSIAA South Group 4 championship March 4 here.

The title was the third in school history for the Chiefs (22-8, 8-0) and first since their state championship season in 2010.

Seniors Little John Green and Rynell Lawrence had 10 points apiece for the Thunderbolts (23-7, 10-3), who were in their first sectional championship since 1970.
