CAMDEN >> Junior Julia DeMarco won two events and anchored the winning 200 medley relay to lead visiting Shawnee (1-0, 0-0) to a 112-58 victory over Haddon Township (0-1, 0-0) in a South Jersey League interdivision meet Dec. 3 at the KROC Center here.

“The girls came out with a great first meet verse Haddon Township,” said Shawnee coach Sarah Howarth, whose team won 10 of 11 events in the season opener. “We were pleased to see some young swimmers compete for the first time ever individually (Katie Fricke, Maddie Baughman) and saw some great improvements from last year from other swimmers, who have clearly been working hard in the offseason.

"Julia DeMarco’s 50 free (25.86) was a personal record, as well as Jillian Anderson’s 500 free (6:57.0). Maggie Hill swam the 200 free in her first high school meet with an impressive 2:08.0. We look forward to seeing these girls fine-tune and improve throughout the season.”
