ITHACA, NY – The Rowan University men’s indoor track & field team took first place at the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday.
The Profs totaled 59 points and earned their second consecutive region title. The two-day meet was held at Ithaca College. There were 35 teams at this meet.
The highlight on the day was the 4x200 meter relay team of Tyler Garland (so. Glassboro, NJ/Deptford Twp.), Shai Mumford (sr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford), Dayquan Murray (fr. Atco, NJ/Hammonton) and Spencer Jarrett (fr. Salem, NJ/Salem) claiming first with a new meet and facility mark of 1:28.99. The previous facility record was 1:29.57 set by Rowan in 2018 and the meet record was held by Ithaca in 2010 with a time of 1:29.66.
Garland kept the winning mentality going as he took first in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.33. Julian Pratt (jr. Camden, NJ/Camden) was seventh in the 60 meter dash in 7.16. Shai Mumford (sr. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) placed second in the 200 meters with a season best time of 22.07. Dayquan Murray (fr. Atco, NJ/Hammonton) finished ninth in 22.90.
In the high jump, Earnest Daniel (so. Woolwich, NJ/Kingsway Reg.) earned third clearing a height of 6’ 5” (1.96 m), while Airrion Scott (fr. Trenton, NJ/Ewing) took eighth in 6’ 3.25” (1.91 m).John Owens (fr. Newnan, GA/West Windsor-Plainsboro N. (NJ)) was seventh in long jump with a distance of 22’ 5.25” (6.84 m). Rakim Coyle (fr. Wildwood, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) placed 11th with a mark of 21’ 10.75” (6.67 m) and Frankie Richard (so. Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Reg.) came in 16th leaping 21’ 5.25” (6.53 m).
Kevin Lauer (fr. Mount Laurel, NJ/Lenape) earned eighth in the mile run with a time of 4:22.21, while Jeff Stewart (fr. Jackson, NJ/Jackson Mem.) finished in 4:27.62. Vincent Delle (so. Williamstown, NJ/Old Bridge) and Chris Mesiano (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) each competed in the 400 meters and claimed ninth (51.18) and 11th (51.57) respectively.
Daniel Henry (sr. Sewell, NJ/Clearview Reg.) came in seventh in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:43.74 and Dylan Tyrrell (jr. Ocean, NJ/St. Joseph’s Metuchen) crossed the line in 9:13.46. In the 800 meters, Josh Munoz (fr. Closter, NJ/Northern Valley Reg. at Demarest) finished in 1:59.81.
Rowan concludes the indoor season with the NCAA Division III Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA on Friday-Saturday, March 8-9.
